HOLISTIC THERAPIES &
BODY-FOCUSED APPROACHES
Living a mentally healthy life is about more than mind alone.
Our mind and body are connected within one nervous system and our gut health is intimately connected with our brain health. Emotions are a whole body experience and working with the body through movement, yoga, breath work, somatic experiencing, or nutritional therapy can be a powerful addition to your therapy journey.

Nutritional Therapy
The Mood-Food Connection
There’s no doubt about it; the nutrients we put into our bodies have an intimate relationship with our mental health. There are key nutrients that the brain requires to enable it to work efficiently, and what goes on in the gut can affect what is going on the brain. But knowing what and how to eat isn’t easy as we are constantly bombarded with messages about diet, weight and shape. More than that, our nutrition is personal and based on our own lifestyles, habits, and our genetics. Understanding your unique nutritional needs and finding balance will have huge benefits on your gut, brain and mental health.
We offer nutritional therapy for tailored individual support alongside our talking therapies.
Yoga for mental health
Emotions are an all body experience. Our Yoga for Healing courses invite small groups of clients to attend a weekly class in person or online to work with tension, stress and emotions in the body. We focus on breath, balance, stability and clarity. We also offer individual support alongside our talking therapies.
Mindfulness Practices
The British Association for Mindfulness Approaches explains that “Mindfulness helps us to move away from a thinking-based way of living into a more direct and immediate connection with everyday life and what's going on around us all, with kindness and curiosity.
By not worrying so much about the past or feeling so anxious about what the future may bring, we can experience more pleasure, joy and happiness, moment by moment. Over time, this can contribute to a sense of empowerment by recognising we can make more choices about how to live life more fully. This can support the development of better relationships, stability in life and an increased sense of wellbeing, whoever you are.”
We offer small group mindfulness courses in person and online as well as individual support either as a stand-alone therapy or alongside psychological therapies.
Somatic Experiencing
Somatic Experiencing (SE™) is an approach used for healing trauma and other stress disorders. It brings together physiology, psychology, ethology, biology, neuroscience, indigenous healing practices, and medical biophysics.
The SE approach releases traumatic shock, which is key to transforming PTSD and the wounds of emotional and early developmental attachment trauma. It offers a framework to assess where a person is “stuck” in the fight, flight or freeze responses and provides clinical tools to resolve these fixated physiological states. SE provides effective skills appropriate to a variety of healing professions including mental health, medicine, physical and occupational therapies, bodywork, addiction treatment, first response, education, and others.
We offer individual appointments either alone or in combination with psychological therapy.
Feedback from our classes & workshops
“Thank you – this has been so useful. Excellent topics which were explained clearly and made easy to understand. I am now keen to put into practice preparing more nutrient-dense meals.”
“Made me think about my values, negative thoughts and coping strategies for handling things when life is not going according to plan.”
“The BEST investment into my health. I left feeling the most compassion I have had for myself in a long time. I haven’t beaten myself up today over menial things and told that inner critic ‘shoo’. I feel like I am acing at life today”
Healing Community
For too long mental health has been stigmatised and treated behind clinic doors and in private spaces. As social beings we gain so much from connecting with those around us. To be human is to struggle and in this shared experience we are not alone. Not only that but we have the opportunity to be heard, understood and to learn from others.
At The Bodart Practice, we aim to create healing communities online and offline that can be safe, supportive and empowering.
Connect with us online and through our socials to have a sprinkling of holistic mental health support throughout your week. You can also join our mailing list for useful tips and exercises, and to hear about new events.
